Fab Site: InStyle Shopping with ShopStyle

Last month ShopStyle joined the Sugar family and for that we are grateful. Now, InStyle wants in on the action, too. The magazine has set up shop at Shopstyle. Now readers can get fabulous, editor-recommended dresses and even more party frocks right at their fingertips. This fusion means that now when you see an item you adore in a magazine, you don’t have to go searching far and wide to get it. Shopping made easier? That’s just what we need!

Cocktail Pillbox Hat: Love It or Hate It?

The late and great Isabella Blow taught us, via her over-the-top outfits and words, to be bold; to never blend in with the crowd. This Cocktail Pillbox Hat, $28, strikes me as something Issy would have encouraged us to wear. Though it’s a definite statement piece, it’s beautiful and feminine. I’d attempt it at a super fashion-y soiree. Would you?

On Our Radar: Machine Washable Suiting

The power suit is back: but with a new power. It’s now machine-washable and with a flattering cut. For all you young professionals out there whose suits are like a uniform, take a breath of fresh air. No more hauling piles of blazers, pants, and skirts back and forth to the dry cleaners on a weekly basis!

Nicole by Nicole Miller has an affordable “Smart Suit” at JCPenney: $132 for jackets, $72 for pants, and $60 for skirts. Erin Fetherston for Target has the more feminine washable skirt suit at left coming out in mid-November, and Kohl’s Apt. 9 label offers a washable tweed pantsuit. Some are also wrinkle-resistant, so you can just wash and wear.
